73And It Was Her Last Dance. In Memory of Donna Summer
The Great Donna Summer Passed Away
Donna Summer, Queen of Disco, passed away on May 17, 2012 at the young age of 63. She was a 70's diva who's death was shocking and sorrowful. Her talent and energy for music will be greatly missed.

70's Music Divas
Divas come and go. But the 70's had 3 music divas who have made a lasting impact upon the music world far beyond a normal influence. I don't know why that is. There were divas in the 50's like beautiful Rosemary Clooney, aunt of George, and divas in the 60's like Dianna Ross, Queen of Motown and Aretha Franklin, Queen of Soul, who had hit after hit. This site exists not to diminish those achievements or the achievments of other divas of the 70's either like Donna Summer, Queen of Disco.
But these three 70's divas brought great music to their fans, with a passion for delivering that music. They were the first to be seen on music videos. And they were drop dead gorgeous. All three were grammy winners. Olivia Newton John has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and so does Stevie Nicks through Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks was named Queen of Rock by Rolling Stone Magazine.
All three have had very long careers based upon their diverse efforts. They did not limit themselves to one sound unlike some of the other divas of the twentieth century. I hope you enjoy a trip down memory lane. If you have not discovered these before, you will likely enjoy their impact on the music world.
Linda Ronstadt with a Great Song
Linda Ronstadt had a great deal of passion in delivering her songs. She gained a little fame as girlfriend of Governor Jerry Brown of California. And this girl was beautiful with a sensational voice. I hope that you enjoy her songs. She impacted many who listened to pop music in the 70's.
Linda Ronstadt went on to sing 50's music with the same magic as seen with her contemporary 70's hits. She was on Broadway with Pirates of Penzance and proved to be a versatile performer with some wonderful songs in the 80's.

Stevie Nicks Queen of Rock and Roll
Stevie Nicks
Stevie Nicks gained fame first through Fleetwood Mac and then on her own, sometimes competing in the ratings with her iconic classic rock band. Stevie was perhaps the most passionate female singer in music history.
Stevie wrote almost all her hits. Her talent was enormous. Classic rock was the vehicle for the best quality pop music of the time. For this she was named "Queen of Rock" by Rolling stone Magazine in 1981. And she is my all time favorite smart and amazingly beautiful entertainer.
Stevie didn't believe movies were sincere, so she limited her fame somewhat by not taking advantage of that medium. The trade off was one of the most dedicated singers ever who sold over 100 million albums with Fleetwood Mac and solo.

Olivia Newton John Live
Olivia Newton John
If you are a guy and you had a pulse, you managed to catch Olivia Newton John on the video "Lets Get Physical" right? Olivia Newton John had a light and airy way about her. She was brilliant in her use of all mediums and Grease was a musical that captured the 50's like no other. The musical was released in 1978, the same year that Stevie Nicks was winning grammy album of the year with Fleetwood Mac for 1977.

I always loved Olivia Newton-John. She's still beautiful to this day...inside and out and a survivor.
Donna Summer rocks. Love her. I enjoyed her VH1 Live performance about 10 years ago.
Let's face it, Stevie Nicks is a wonder. What a voice.
I'm most torn over who I think was more attractive THEN, Olivia or Linda???
I think it's obvious nowadays that Olivia is still pretty damn attractive, but Linda can still sing too. :-\
the nostaigia from yesteryears music is overwhelming on me right now.can anyone post me an mp3 or pendrive of 70,s country and soul music thru;this address ;i. kplorfia, box tn 1493,teshie/nungua estates, accra, ghana.?.can you bgamall?i will be most grateful.
Stevie Nicks, has stood the test of time because of her tenacity and stamina, not just because of her talent and beauty. Olivia Newton-John has done very well, too, and her constant appearances and charity work have kept her relevant to this day.
Linda Ronstadt, though, was hands down THE FEMALE STAR of the 1970s (no, it absolutely was NOT Aretha or Diana or even one of my favorites, Donna Summer).
Linda Ronstadt was the first female solo star to sell out arenas and to top the charts as a rock 'n roller. People forgot quickly how she paved the way for Stevie Nicks, Heart, and the New Wave girls that came soon after her.
Although Linda Ronstadt was only 33 years old when she made her last rock album, Rock's ageism kicked in and she was replaced by younger stars like Debby Harry, Pat Benatar and Chrissie Hynde. So Ronstadt switched gears and left the rock & pop scene. It is unfortunate that she has not kept up her appearance the way most of her peers have, but she is still the best female singer around and she is a very good person.
Some good choices (though for Fleetwood Mac, I prefer Christine McVie to the talented Ms. Nicks), but for sheer talent, I'd give high marks to Toni Tennille. Sadly many of the Captain $ Tennille hits did not show off her incredible voice. If anyone doubts her talent, feel free to listen to their cover of the Beach Boys standard "God Only Knows" which rivals the original in terms of depth and vocal talent. In terms of sheer power and lovliness, Ms. Tennille rivals if not surpasses the fantastic Ms. Ronstadt.
I also think that Arethra, Donna and Diana deserve some mention all incredibly talented ladies with amazing voices.
