Zurker

Zurker is an interesting and new social networking site. Zurker is free to join, always.

One of the developers, Nick Oba, has developed and sold such innovative sites as Qondio and Ah Yer! and now is involved in the fantastically popular keyword analysis engine Qirina.

Zurker is an interesting social networking site because of ease of navigation, and I will explain how it works as the discussion continues. However, one interesting aspect is that you can own a piece of the site by recruiting other free signups, and/or you can purchase venture shares, or vshares, outright.

If Zurker is successful, many people could prosper in varying degrees. If the company is sold, we can profit from our vshares. If the company goes public, we can also profit from the vshares being turned into stock shares. Vshares are private shares as opposed to public stock shares in a traded company on a stock exchange.

Zurker is a very easy social network to navigate. You will want to fill out your profile and add relevant tags to your profile. When people join your network you can tag them as friends, family,colleagues, drinking buddies or whatever. I don't have any drinking buddies except my wife, but since she probably doesn't want to be tagged as a drinking buddy, I tagged her as family. That's a joke.

The site is easy because when you are on it and logged in, you just click on the Zurker link at the top. It takes you the the Street/Home section. Clicking on the street takes you to that which others in your network are doing. Clicking on home takes you to what directly affects you. Home is like your wall in Facebook.

On the right side of the page you can see options, such as: Announcements, Find, Settings, etc. The Announcement page is great, allowing you to upload links and pictures. The Find page is great as you can post interesting web pages with a description if you choose and the link.

The site is so much more well thought out than, say, Facebook. Facebook has more applications, but Zurker is much more user friendly. Privacy settings are easy to find, or you can blast your announcements to the world, for indexing in search engines.

All in all, the experience of Zurker has been a lot of fun. New people are willing to communicate. You can promote your Hubpages, but spamming is frowned upon. That is what makes the Announcement and Find sections so appealing as they are permitted. You can Zurk announcements and finds and comments you like. Zurks boost the comments so more members are likely to see them.
